Power supply failures in many places in Taiwan have recently occurred. Neihu District in Taipei City and Xindian District in New Taipei City suffered power outages on Monday, affecting more than 8,000 households. The Taiwan Power Company stated that it repaired the cables in Neihu District at 2:45 a.m. that day and restored all power supplies; Xindian District completed the repairs before 10:00 a.m. on the same day.

Blame animals for short circuit
Taipower said that at 2:05 a.m. in Neihu District, birds built their nests on utility poles, causing a short circuit in the area, causing about 3,000 households in the area from Section 5 of Chenggong Road to Jinlong Road to lose power for nearly 40 minutes, causing a lot of trouble for local residents. Netizens who lived in the area immediately joked on social platforms, "Taiwan's wild animals are almost extinct by electricity, have you changed to civet cats this time?"
At 7:20 a.m. in Xindian District, the feeder circuit breaker tripped, causing a total of 5,097 households to lose power in the areas of Xianghe Road, Anxiang Road, Ankang Road, Anyi Road, Jianye Road and Beiyi Road. Taipower immediately dispatched employees to the local area for repairs, and said that it would step up its efforts to send personnel to repair the cables and investigate the cause of the accident.
